YOU LOOK LIKE YOU WANT TO HAVE SOME FUN.
And that’s one thing that I feel adults could do a lot better at: having fun! Like sweaty, silly, giggle until you jiggle kind of fun. WELCOME TO HULA-FIT!
In this class, I bring the zing back to the workout routine. HULA-FIT is a combination of foundational moves as taught to me by HardCore Hooping Mama, Tracy Tingley, and a mash-up of other movements I created that will get your heart racing and your hips a-swinging!

Watch your core strength and balance explode as skills build! Laugh your head off at my ridiculous stories and antics. Feel the burn, get your groove on with a jammin’ playlist, sit a song out and visit with a friend–ALL MOVES ARE WELCOME!
For the last 10 minutes of class, we’ll cool off with a sharing circle, reflecting on the BODY-AS-POWER theme and recognizing ways to dispense with body-shaming in our day-to-day lives. MEN AND WOMEN ARE WELCOME!
CLASSES ARE 60 MINUTES and happen at Avalon Acres and Pine Point Beach during the warm months.

*HULA-FIT CLASS: Bonney Eagle Adult Education starting on Feb 1st for 10 weeks; cost is $80 for the 10 week class and will be held on WEDNESDAYS from 11:30-12:30 PM at the Jack Memorial Gym (290 Parker Farm Rd) in Buxton *This class ended on April 26th; it has been a true pleasure bringing Hula-Fit to the community! Thank you BEAE! Here’s what one of the hoopers had to say about HULA-FIT:
Man, was I ever pleasantly surprised!!! Mary Katherine (MK) freaking glows. I bet in the dark even. Every fear or reservation went straight out one of the huge 10 windows of the cutest little school auditorium/gymnasium I’ll ever have the pleasure of hooping in. MK is a practiced and knowledgeable instructor to the art form of hula hooping who brings to her classes a real sense of belonging, wellness, connectedness, creating a safe space for folks to learn in a healthy and fun environment. She always brought a pile of hoops, her boom box and an excellent song list to keep her students moving to the beats. Her classes were at times structured and then sometimes a free flow of everyone hooping to their own authentic vibe and trying their best hooping moves. She helped everyone in class reach their best potential, spending extra time with everyone, practicing an unconditional positive regard always. She integrated a full body exercise focusing not only on core strength, but arms, legs as well as *buttocks ( *Said like Forest Gump
). We worked every muscle and I often felt the burn the rest of the week in muscles and body parts I apparently forgot existed. She was careful to have stretching before and cool down time following 45 minutes of a wicked fun workout….with a hula hoop, so fun!!!
I was honored to be one of her maiden ship hoopers and delighted to meet the many wonderful folks in class that I now consider friends.
I highly recommend this class to ANYONE. This class forced me to get out of my comfort zone and isolation. MK really does shine so so bright, like, there IS a bubble of beautiful golden light all around her. I found myself wishing I could steal some and bottle it up to take with me every week. So bright.
